— Dozens of youngsters and their parents scrambled over work equipment Saturday as part of the Siloam Springs Parks and Recreation Department’s annual Touch-ATruck event, held in the Wal-mart parking lot.

Children were able to sit in the front seat of a Siloam Springs police car and look at the inner workings of a ladder truck from the Fire Department.

A camouflaged military Humvee was also available to crawl through, along with equipment from other city services.

One unexpected hit with the kids was an enclosed cargo trailer used to haul some of the equipment to the event.

“I don’t know what it is about that trailer and ramp that kids love so much,” said Scott Hodge with the Parks and Recreation Department. “They just never get tired of running up and down the ramp and into the trailer.”
